Mr PrasannaKumar O, Registrar ,Karnataka Nursing Council, highlighted the importance of competent nurses during this pandemic situation. Sri. R Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha stressed the importance of continuing education to achieve competency in nursing skills. Dr C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, emphasized the need of healing touch while caring clients with illness. The program concluded by 5.30 pm.
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing was organized a Guest Lecture on 28/11/2022 at 10 am based on the Topic: Recent Application In Infertility by Dr. Nikitha Sirigere , Professor, Department of Prasutitantra and Streeroga ,Government Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital ,Mysuru. More than 135 Undergraduate and Post graduate Nursing Students attended the Guest Lecture and got benefited.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing has celebrated Scholastic Day “JANANI” on 14th October 2022. The program started 9.30am by inaugural by the principal Prof Aswathi Devi M K and Mrs. Lissa J, HOD, OBG Nursing Department ,Followed by on stage events Pick and Answer, Find the Puzzles ,fun game for students and teachers ,and simultaneously Inaugural of Health Exhibition regarding the Perinatal aspect (Regarding Antenatal ,intranatal and postnatal Care ) which includes anatomy , pre conception, antenatal ,intranatal and postnatal related posters and models were displayed to all batch of Bsc Nursing , PB Bsc Nursing and Msc Nursing students were actively participated and Won Prizes for the event. The program ended at 1.30 pm.
Department of Medical Surgical Nursing and Nursing Foundation organized a guest lecture on Interventional Cardiology on 15th October at 11am at Sri. Rajendra auditorium. Dr. Sunil Kumar S, Prof. and HOD, Department of Cardiology, JSS Medical College and Hospital was the resource person.Interventional cardioogy procedures like angiopgram, angioplasty, percutaneous closure of left atrial appendage with the help of Transesophageal echocardiography, closure of ostium Secondum asd, placement of innoy baloon for mitral valve stenosis was discussed with videos. All 2nd year and 3rd year BSc Nursing students and faculty attended the guest lecture and got beniffited.

Inauguration of Sambhrama 2022 was formally held on 30thSeptember 2022at 011am at Dr.Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Bhavaan, Mysuru. Guest was Mr. Neethu Ninad P, singer, Mysuru. He entertained the audience by his songs and Mrs Aswathi Devi M K,Pricipal JSS College of Nursing, Presided over the occasion. .After inauguration program, programme started at 3pm with theater event like Mime, Mad adds, fashion choreography, solo dance Indian and solo dance free style and the programme was organized by 4th B,Sc nursing.
On 29th September 2022programme started at 3 pm with Group dance classical , Rab ne banadi Jodi and classical group and the programme was organized by 3rd B,Sc nursing.
On 30thSeptember 2022 programme started at 3 pm with Group song Indian, Group song western, solo song Indian, Mr and Ms.CON and the programme was organized by 2nd B,Sc nursing.
Off Stage events like Fine arts( rangoli, mehandi hair style, best out of waste, make up, cooking without fire and literary events ( debate, poetry recitation), short movie and treasure hunt were conducted from 21st September to 26th September 2022.
Overall championship won by P B B.Sc Nursing students and Kala Thilaka bagged by Ms. Vijayalakshmi 1st PB B.Sc Nursing student.
SNA Unit, JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru celebrated Teachers day & Onam- 2022, on 5th September 2022. The program was started at 9am and events like pokalum and various games were conducted to students and teachers.
Mrs. Gracy Mathai, Chief Executive Officer, Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode, Kerala the Chief Guest and other dignitaries were Dr. C P Madhu, Medical Super indent, JSS Hospital Mysuru was the Special Invite and Mrs. Aswathy Devi M K, Principal, JSS College of Nursing. Sri. R Mahesh, Director Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha presided the programme. Mrs. Nisha P Nair, Assistant Professor, MrsSaraswathi K N, Assistant Professor, Mrs. Rashmi P and Mrs.Sunitha P S carry the burning Lamp represent the Lamp of Education. Mrs. Usha Rani Associate Professor recites the Florence Nightingale pledge to the students. 99 students took oath in the ceremony. Mrs. Gracy Mathai spoke about importance discipline during learning period and communication. Mrs. Aswathy Devi M K, Principal, JSS College of Nursing welcomed the gathering and programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs.Rashmi P.
About the Workshop
Workshop on “Birthing Process: Hands on Theory to hands on skill” aims to demonstrate skills in practice of managing birthing Process. Facilitate simulation session independently with high quality pre-briefing, scenario and debriefing.
Workshop was conducted with expert speakers from other Nursing institution as well as in-house experts for interactive sessions related to their domains. Sessions were organized to groom students for enhancing the skills and for their prospective career.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- outline the concept of Circle of learning
- demonstrate skills practice using checklists and skills evaluation
- enhance decision making and critical thinking using case studies

Training team consists of Prof. Sheela J, HOD, department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, R V College of Nursing, who has completed skill standardization and simulation training for midwifery faculty at the National Reference Simulation Center, SGT University, Gurugram sponsored by INC and UNFPA, Mrs. Lissa J, HOD, department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, Dr. Bhavya S V, Mrs.Munirathnamma K and Mrs. Dhanalakshmi N, Assistant Professors, JSS College of Nursing.
Total 80 delegates from Mysuru zonal nursing institutions like Gopalagowda Shanthaveri Memorial College of Nursing, Mysuru, St. Joseph College of Nursing, Mysuru and BGS College of Nursing, Mysuru were registered for the Workshop.
Workshop was inaugurated at 10.30am on 01.07.2022. Prof. Sheela J, HOD, department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, R V College of Nursing, Bengaluru, Dr. Archana S, Chief Co-ordinator of skill and simulation centre, JSS AHER Mysuru, Mrs. Usha M Thomas, Associate Professor, JSS College of Nursing and Mrs. Lisssa J, Assistant Professor, JSS College of Nursing inaugurated the workshop. Dr. Sheela J expressed the need for organizing workshops which helps students to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Dr. Archana S, emphasized the need for simulation and skill labs in current scenario.
The workshop commenced by conducting pre test and with the brief introduction about the overall goal of the workshop to participants by Mrs. Lissa J, HOD, OBG Nursing Department, JSS College of Nursing followed by sessions.

Valedictory |
A,B, C,D and E were the group of students each group contains 16 students for hands on skill stations.
Valedictory programme started at 4.50pm with welcoming guests, resource persons and delegates, followed by report reading by Mrs. Lissa J, HOD, OBG Nursing, Feedback by delegates, Prof. Sheela Khaddimani, HOD of Community Health Nursing, Gopala Gowda Shanthaveri Memorial college of Nursing, Mysuru, KNC Observer, announced 08 credit points for the workshop and appreciated the way workshop conducted. Certificate distribution done by the guests. The valedictory programme ended by thanking everyone with vote of thanks at 5.05pm. The group dispersed with high tea.

Marathon was inaugurated by the Sri. R Chethan, I.P.S Superintendent of Police Mysuru at near the Sri Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple, Palace Premises.More than 700 nursing students and nurses were participated in the marathon.
We the Department of Psychiatric Nursing of JSS College of nursing organized Workshop on “ Psychological tests“ on 10.05.2022 from 9.30 am-12.00 noon for 3 year Bsc(N) students . Resource person was Dr. Srinivas Belvadi and Dr Arvind, Clinical psychologists, Viveka hospital.
Session on psychological tests was done Dr. Srinivas Belvadi and clinical application of psychological test was done by Dr Arvind. Total 50 students got benefited from the workshop. Students actively involved in the session asked questions and clarified their doubts.
We the department of Psychiatric Nursing of JSS College of Nursing organized Guest lecture on “ Make mental health and well- being for all a global priority” on 10.10.2022 at 10 am for nursing students .Resource person was Dr. Srinivas, Clinical Psychologist, Viveka hospital. Total 30 students got benefited from the session. Students actively involved in the session asked questions and clarified their doubts.
As a part of this students conducted Role play on “ Mental health” for inmates of Viveka hospital followed by recreational activities for inmates of Viveka hospital. Program concluded at 12 noon.
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Department of Mental Health Nursing and department of Community Health Nursing, JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru organized inter collegiate poster making competition for the students on 27/05/2022 at 2pm. The venue for the competition was JSS College of Nursing.

Guest lecture on the theme “Protect the Environment” was organized on 31/05/2022 at Sri Rajendra auditorium for the faculty and fourth year BSc nursing students. The guest speaker was Dr.Abhimanyu Chandak, Psychiatrist, Vivek Clinic, Mysuru. Prizes for the winners of poster making competition were distributed during the program. The guest lecture started at 10am and concluded at 11.30am.
Role play was organized at Govt. Primary School Chornahalli on 01/07/2022 to create awareness regarding the ill effects of use of tobacco among school children. Mrs.Manjula Headmistress Govt. Primary School Chornahalli welcomed the gathering. Teachers and ninety students of Govt. Primary School Chornahalli benefited from the program. The program concluded at 11am.

A, B, C and D were the group of students and each group contains 13 students for hands on skill stations.
Valedictory programme was held at 4:30 pm followed by post-test, feedback by delegates and certificate distribution by the guests and resource persons. The valedictory programme ended by thanking everyone with vote of thanks and the group dispersed with high tea.

World breast feeding week was celebrated in collaboration with Community Medicine department at Urban Health center, Bamboo Bazar on 04-08-2022. Exhibition and video show was organized to create awareness regarding breastfeeding among public.
Medical Surgical Nursing department of JSS College of Nursing conducted Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on 6th May 2022 from 2pm to 4pm at Sri. Rajendra auditorium. Totally six teams from following colleges participated; JSS College of Nursing, JSS School of Nursing, Vikram College of Nursing, Sigma College of Nursing, St. Josephs College of Nursing and Government College of Nursing, Mysuru. Mrs. Vidya M, Asst. Lecturer and Mr. Nagendraswamy, Asst. Lecturer were the quiz masters. First prize won by JSS College of Nursing team and second prize by Government College of Nursing, Mysuru. Totally 98 first year BSc Nursing students were the audience. Mrs. Usha M Thomas, Associate Professor and Dr. Priyadarshini, Asst. Lecturer distributed the certificates to the participants and winners.

The Medical Surgical Department of JSS College of Nursing in collaboration with orthopaedic department, JSS hospital, Mysuru had organized a workshop on orthopaedic Immobilization and Mobility devices for 2nd year BSc nursing, I year PBBSc nursing and MSc nursing students from 19th to 21st April 2022.The programme started with pre test followed by a 1st Introductory session by Mrs.Anitha Victoria Noronha at 9.30am.The inauguration of the programme started at 10am with chief guest Dr. Purushothama Sastry, HOD and Professor, Orthopedic Dept, JSS Hospital and Medical college, Mysuru. Sri Mahesh R, Director, Medical education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore presided over the programme Mrs.Aswathy Devi M K, Principal, JSS College of Nursing gave a Key note address on the topic.
The refreshment for the students were sponsored by Zydus Health Care limited. Followed by inauguration the 2nd session was started by Dr. Purushothama Sastry, HOD and Professor, JSS hospital, Mysore on the topic Splints: Aid for immobilization, the session was moderated by Mr. Suneel Kumar C N Asst. Lecturer. Session one was beneficial to all the students, knowing the fundamental immobility device. The 3rd session of the workshop was on the topic Cast immobilization by Dr Mruthyunjaya, Professor and unit chief, Department of Orthopaedics, JSS Hospital &Medical College, Mysore at 11.30am moderated by Mr. Nagendraswamy, Asst. Lecturer. The 4th session of the workshop was started at 12.15pm by Dr. Siddalingamurthy, Professor and unit chief, Department of Orthopaedics, JSS Hospital &Medical College, Mysuru, the session was moderated by Mrs.Anitha Victoria Naronha, Asst.Professor,
The afternoon session was started at 2pm on demonstration of splints, casts and traction by Dr.Vijay.C, Associate professor, JSS College of Nursing, Mysore. The session was excellent with live demonstration on all orthopaedic immobilizing devices. Afternoon session was moderated by Mrs.Vidya.M, Asst. Lecturer.The session was interesting and the students got well orientation to all immobilizing devices.

The second day of the workshop began at 9am on orthopaedic mobility devices by Dr.Sheshagiri, Associate professor, Department of Orthopedics, JSS Hospital & Medical College, Mysore. The session was moderated by Mr.Suneel Kumar C N Asst. Lecturer, JSS College of Nursing. Followed by tea break the next session was started by Mr.Sanjib Kumar Barai, Bachelor in Prosthetic & Orthotic, Department of Artificial Limb Centre, JSS Hospital & Medical College, Mysuru. The session was moderated by Mr. Nagendraswamy, Asst. Lecturer. The afternoon session was demonstration session by all faculty of MSN department on mobility devices. The students divided into six groups to practice on use of immobilization and mobility devices. Each group was given the equipments and randomly they were told to demonstrate on stage. The session was effective in imparting practical knowledge to students.

The third day of the workshop began at 9am as per the interest of the students Musculoskeletal system Assessment was demonstrated by Mrs. Anitha VN and Mrs. Vidya M and redemonstration by all the students were taken. Followed by a small break nursing care plan practice session was done by giving case scenario to all students in groups. Post test was distributed to all.
The workshop came to an end at 1pm after post test with a small valedictory programme. Distributed certificates to all students and resource persons. Feedback was taken by representatives of all three batches. Students expressed that the workshop was extremely useful and requested to conduct these kind of workshops in future too.
As a part of World Health Day 2022 Department Of Community Health Nursing, JSS College of Nursing conducted intercollegiate essay writing and pencil sketch competition on 07/04/0222 at 2pm. The competition was held at third year BSc Nursing classroom, JSS College of Nursing. There were thirty one participants for essay writing and twenty four participants for pencil sketch competition from various Nursing colleges in Mysuru, JSS School of Nursing and JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing.

As a part of World Health Day,Department Of Community Health Nursing organised guest lecture on 11/4/2022 at JSS College of Nursing on the theme “Our Planet Our Health”. The speaker was Dr.Ashok P, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, JSS Medical college, Mysuru. The program started at 11.30am and concluded at12.30 pm. 4th year Bsc Nursing students benefitted from the program. Certificate for the winners of essay writing and pencil sketch competitions were distributed during the occasion.
Department of Community Health Nursing organized dental camp at Govt.Primary School, Chornahalli village on 06.04.2022. Permission to conduct the camp was obtained from BEO, Rural division, Mysuru. The camp started at 10 am and concluded at 2 pm. The dental team consisted of eight members including two doctors, PG and intern students and technicians. Total 84 patients including school children and residents of the village benefitted from the program. Treatment for the school children were provided after getting consent from the parents. Majority of the patients were diagnosed with dental carries. Other cases identified were buccal pit, retained deciduous, ulcer, retained tooth stung etc. Six tooth extractions, and seven scaling and five restoration procedures were performed. Patients who require advanced treatment were referred to JSS dental college and JSS hospital, Sutturu.
The chief guest for the program was Dr, Jayaraj BS,Professor and HOD, Pulmonary Medicine,JSS Hospital and Medical College and delivered guest lecture on the theme to sensitize the residents of the village regarding the prevention of TB and importance of early identification and treatment of the disease. Dr,Kantharaju AN, Medical Officer Varuna PHC was the president for the program. Mr.Rajesh,President Chikkalli Grampanchayath, Smt.Pushaplatha Devanna Vice president, Chikkalli Grampanchayath and other Panchayath members were the special invitees. Role paly was conducted by the 4th year BSc Nursing students on the theme. Many residents of the village and school children benefitted from the program.
Video Making Competition was also organized for the Nursing students on the theme “ Invest to End TB ,Save Lives”. Total 19 students participated in the competition.

Alumni Conclave “Our Alumni Our Pride” 2021-22 – As a part of Alumni meet 2021-22 a session organized for all Alumni of JSS College of nursing on the topic “Career Guidance in Nursing” at Sri Rajendra Auditorium on 06.01.2022. The Alumni conclave inaugurated at 11.00 am by guests Sri Niranjan Samy N, CEO Medapp, Bengaluru, Prof Amar Singh Sindal Certified and Licensed Master Trainer, Principal Consultant-Trainer and facilitator ,Sri Mahesh R, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru , presided the programme and Mrs Aswathy Devi M .k. Principal and Patron, JSS College of Nursing were present.
Alumni Report was presented by Mr.Sunilkumar CN, Secretary, Alumni association. Followed by address by Special Invitee Mr.Niranjan Swamy N. Alumni of JSS College of nursing were felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais for their 15 years of service in Nursing teaching and research. Mrs. Usha M Thomas expressed her gratitude towards alma mater.
Ms. Jeshma KM, awarded Sri Duggahati Shivanagana meritorious student award who scored highest marks in Mental Health Nursing. The program concluded at 12.30 pm with vote of thanks.
At 12.35 pm session on career opportunities in Abroad was presented by Mr. Varghese Thomas, Director and founder Jeremiah International Academy , Mysuru at 1.15 pm the session was concluded followed by lunch. At 2.00 pm afternoon session was on “Career Guidance in Nursing” by Prof. Amar Singh Sindal and session ended at 3.30 pm. Total 170 Alumni attended the programme.
General body meeting was conducted at 4 pm to plan and organize alumni activities in 2022.
